Azores cruise from Terceira on board the Santa Maria Manuela
Azores cruise from Terceira on board the Santa Maria Manuela
Embark on an extraordinary 7-night cruise aboard the Santa Maria Manuela, a beautifully restored historic sailing ship, to explore some of the most remote and unspoilt islands of the Azores archipelago. Departing from and returning to Terceira, this sailing adventure will take you to the wild beauty of Flores and the small but captivating island of Corvo, two jewels of the Atlantic that remain virtually untouched by mass tourism.
The journey begins in Angra do Heroísmo, a UNESCO World Heritage City on the island of Terceira. From here, you will head west to Flores, known for its impressive waterfalls, volcanic lakes and lush valleys. In Flores you can hike to the famous lagoas (small volcanic lakes), explore pristine nature reserves or visit Fajã Grande, the most westerly town in Europe, a place with a truly unique charm.
Next stop is Corvo, the smallest island in the Azores, brimming with charm and character. You can walk around its spectacular volcanic caldera, the Caldeirão, visit the village of Vila do Corvo and get to know the unique culture and way of life of this island. With only a few hundred inhabitants, Corvo offers a real escape from modern life, a haven of peace where time seems to stand still.
Throughout the crossing, you will have the opportunity to actively participate in the boat's manoeuvres: hoisting sails, sailing and learning from a professional and experienced crew. If you prefer a more relaxed approach, you can simply enjoy the deck, watch spectacular sunrises and sunsets over the Atlantic, and let yourself be rocked by the ocean.
The Santa Maria Manuela offers different types of accommodation to suit all tastes, from shared cabins ideal for those looking to socialise, to the spacious Master Cabin perfect for families. All meals are included - breakfast, lunch and dinner - along with hot drinks, water and juices throughout the day.
August weather conditions in the Azores are ideal for sailing, with daytime temperatures between 22-27°C and prevailing north-westerly winds ensuring smooth and pleasant sailing. Evenings are cooler, perfect for enjoying the fresh ocean air and stargazing from the deck.
This experience is designed for travellers aged between 14 and 80 who are looking for a unique and immersive way to discover the Azores, whether they are experienced sailors or people with no previous sailing experience. It is ideal for lovers of nature, quiet adventure, photography and those who wish to disconnect from routine in an incomparable maritime environment.
