Following the 2018 trip to the Lofoten and Tromsø islands for the filming of Terra Nova, a tribute to the Portuguese cod fishing expeditions to Greenland and Newfoundland, the iconic sailing vessel returns to Norwegian waters.
This voyage combines tradition, nautical training and environmental awareness, with cod as the historical link between Portugal and Norway.
Sailing through majestic fjords and open seas, the Santa Maria Manuela once again shows the strength and soul of Portugal's maritime heritage.
Set sail from the historic port of Bergen and enter the soul of Norway through its majestic fjords. This unforgettable journey will take you through a landscape sculpted by glaciers, from the lighthouse of Marstein to the serene waters of Holmegre, the rugged beauty of Flåm and the tranquil expanses of Frøysjøen and Olden, before arriving in the vibrant coastal city of Ålesund.
During the trip, the crew will invite you to take part in the sailing experience: hoisting and trimming the sails, taking the helm, participating in knot-tying workshops or even climbing the mast. Whether you feel like taking an active part or just relaxing and observing, there is room for both active learning and quiet reflection on board.
Throughout the journey, bask in the glow of the midnight sun, breathe in the fresh, clean air, and savour fresh seafood and hearty Norwegian dishes. Each stop offers a glimpse into a lifestyle deeply connected to nature and the sea: a journey through landscapes and traditions that will remain in your memory long after the sails are lowered.

The long daylight hours and blossoming nature make it an ideal time to enjoy Bergen's vibrant outdoor culture and picturesque fjords. In May, Ålesund enjoys mild spring weather, with average temperatures between 7°C and 13°C (45°F and 55°F). The days are long and bright, with up to 17 hours of daylight, and the air is fresh and clean. Although occasional showers are common, there are also many cool, sunny days.
