Historical ship sailing trip from A Coruña to Brest
Historical ship sailing trip from A Coruña to Brest
The journey begins in La Coruña, a coastal city in Galicia known for its maritime history, Roman lighthouse (the Tower of Hercules) and lively old town. Before embarking, guests can stroll along the promenade or visit the local markets and cafes near the marina.
Once at sea, the Santa Maria Manuela follows the Atlantic coastline northwards, guided by the wind and tides. Life on board follows the natural rhythm of sailing. Guests can take part in the voyage: helming, trimming the sails or learning traditional seamanship with the crew. The experience depends on the environment and the voyage plan. Participation is optional and there is plenty of time to relax on deck, watch dolphins or read as the coastline passes by.
The trip ends in Brest, one of France's major naval ports with a long maritime tradition. Surrounded by fortified coastlines and home to the National Maritime Museum, Brest offers a mix of historical significance and modern energy. The port area is bustling with shipping, navigation and maritime research, making it the natural conclusion to a coastal voyage under sail.
At the end of April, daytime temperatures range between 12°C and 17°C. The weather at sea can change quickly, so be prepared for both sunny days and occasional showers, with fresh winds and cooler mornings and evenings. Bring warm clothing, including a warm jumper, waterproof clothing and non-slip footwear for being on deck.
