Join the Santa Maria Manuela for a 5-day sailing trip in the western Mediterranean from Palma de Mallorca in the Balearic Islands to Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia. This hands-on trip is ideal for travellers who want to experience life at sea aboard a historic Portuguese sailing ship.
We depart from Palma, known for its impressive cathedral, old town and lively harbour. After leaving the harbour, the Santa Maria Manuela heads southeast towards the open sea. Along the way, you will be invited to take part in the sailing experience - setting sails, taking the helm or participating in the lookout - under the supervision of our professional crew. No previous sailing experience is necessary.
Days at sea offer a mix of activity and relaxation: help sail the boat, enjoy quiet evenings on deck and connect with your fellow passengers. Enjoy sweeping sea views, morning light on the horizon and time to disconnect from the daily routine.
We arrive in Cagliari, a city surrounded by hills and coastal lagoons, with a rich history and a lively marina. It is the perfect end to a journey that combines sailing, discovery and the simple pace of life at sea.
Whether you come to learn, relax or try something new, this is a unique way to explore the Mediterranean.
In mid-March, the western Mediterranean begins to warm up slightly, with daytime temperatures typically ranging between 16 and 20°C. There is still a chance of occasional spring showers, but sunny days are becoming more frequent. Winds remain generally favourable for sailing, especially in open waters between the Balearics and Sardinia. Evenings can still be cool, so warm clothing is recommended.
