Our best-selling voyage is back! Embark on an exciting 8-day ocean crossing aboard the Santa Maria Manuela, sailing 785 nautical miles from mainland Portugal to the Azores, one of the most stunning archipelagos in the world according to National Geographic Traveler magazine.
Start your adventure by sailing under Lisbon's 25 de Abril Bridge. As you pass Cascais and immerse yourself in life at sea, the crew invites you to participate in all aspects of sailing this historic 68-metre schooner. From hoisting the sails to taking the helm, there is no better way to experience true sailing on a sailboat. With ideal wind conditions from the north, the boat sails effortlessly through the Atlantic, making for calm and pleasant days on the water.
On board, you can take part in classes to learn how to tie knots, climb the mast for panoramic views or relax on the bowsprit net. In the evenings, relax with a sundowner on deck and enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow passengers as they share stories of the day.
Sunrise and sunset are a sight to behold, but as you approach the Azores, keep an eye out for the magnificent marine life that frequents these waters. Whales, such as sperm, blue and fin whales, as well as playful dolphins, are often sighted in this region, making for an unforgettable end to your trip.
The trip concludes in the beautiful city of Ponta Delgada, where you can explore the rich culture and history of this mid-Atlantic gem, extending your stay to visit the island's natural wonders, such as Lagoa das Sete Cidades, a stunning crater lake not to be missed.
